America's Andrew Rotz achieved 11,123 consecutive Texas skips at the National Convention of the Wild West Arts Club held at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on March 11 2003, smashing the previous record of 4,011. The attempt took 3 hours 10 minutes to complete – meaning Andrew averaged just over one skip per second.

A "Texas skip" requires the roper to make a large vertical loop or lasso, which is repeatedly whipped from one side of the body to the other. With each pass, the roper skips through the center of the loop. This Wild West roping skill is one of the many traditional cowboy arts practised, preserved and promoted by the Wild West Arts Club.
