Largest speciality soup tasting event

The largest soup tasting event consists of 350 participants, and was achieved by Oga City, East Japan Railway Company Akita Branch, and Oga Co., Ltd. (all Japan) in Oga, Akita, Japan, on 9 March 2019.

Oga, located in the Oga Peninsula on the western coast of Akita Prefecture, is known for Ishiyaki Ryori, a miso-based seafood soup cooked inside a wooden tub by throwing hot rocks inside. Ishiyaki, along with two other local soup dishes, Shottsuru Nabe and Damako Nabe, were tasted by participants who listened to a lecture on their cooking methods, flavors, etc.
